Hi, I’m Dawn Harper!
I’m the author and creator of the Benny of Sunny Hollow™ series and the heart behind Sunny Hollow Publishing.
The idea for Sunny Hollow grew from something simple: I wanted to create stories that children would genuinely enjoy while giving parents, grandparents, and teachers opportunities to talk with them about the things that really matter.
Through Benny and his friends, I tell colorful adventures about kindness, friendship, courage, perseverance, forgiveness, confidence, and helping others. Benny doesn’t always get everything right—and that’s part of what makes him special. He makes mistakes, faces challenges, keeps trying, and learns along the way. I want children to see that they don’t have to be perfect to make a difference. Sometimes having a kind heart and being willing to try again is more than enough.
When I’m not dreaming up new adventures for Benny and his friends, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and managing a busy restaurant. Creating the world of Sunny Hollow has given me another way to do something I love—bring a little more encouragement, imagination, and kindness into a child’s day.
My hope is that children will laugh with Benny, cheer him on, recognize a little bit of themselves in his adventures, and carry his lessons with them long after the story ends.
